Kohomba tree

The Kohomba tree has a medicinal value. The Tamils call it “Vempu.” The flowering season of the tree is between March and April. Every part of this tastes bitter. It has yellowish green fruits. It is used to make herbal oil. The speed is valuable as an insecticide some use the twigs of this tree as a tooth brush. The green leaves are insect resistant. They are kept in between the pages of books to prevent insects from destroying pages. This tree is considered as one of the most precious trees in the world.

Vesak is the most important festival

Vesak is the most important festival observed by Buddhist all over the world.
It is celebrated to commemorate the birth of prince Siddhartha and his enlightment and passing away.
On the Vesak day millions of Buddhist in the world observe various
religious practices. Prince Siddhartha was born at Lumbini park in the city of Kimbulwath
in early days in India. His parents were king Suddhodana and queen Mahamaya.
He attended Buddhahood at Buddhagaya. In this year the Vesak poya day fell on 19th of May. So , the Srilankan
Govermant had request to celebrate a Vesak week. In order to that, our school principal organized some useful programs.
On the first day we decorated the school and houses. We decorated the Shrine with tissue streamers and the statue of lord Buddha. The Buddhist flags were raised.
We made Vesak lanterns. So our school was lighted with Vesak decaration.
We decorated not only school but also our homes and temples with Vesak decorations during
this week.

Hortan Thenna


Hortan thenna is one of the interesting places which is situated in Sri Lanka.
It is in the district of ‘Nuwara Eliya’ of Central province. Any visitors can
reach this place along a crooket road from the Ohiya railway station .Besides
 this road many finas trees have been grown by the people .                                             
This area in covered with the mist. With in half one hour any one can reach
Horton Thenna.The lord of the forest is level and taller tress can be seen.
There are two beautiful waterfalls named by Chimini Ella and Backors Ella.
With the golden colour of the fally water and the sweet should of the Backors
 waterfall is bright the area ,Chimini Ella is close to have.
The most beautiful and interesting places in Horton Thenna is the World
End ‘small and big World End’. The World End spreads toward southern.
This southern Horton thenna is high about 350 and spreads to Balangoda area.
 

Scene is very terrific .Any way the slop at this places is very interesting.
There are tress and bushes covered the land. Not only that can be seen endemic
 plants and fertile soil .There fore the plants .So many tourists come here to
watch its beauty

e-Village Pilots on an overseas tour

With the intention of promoting the use of IT in the rural areas
of the country Of Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with
the Presidential Secretariat launched a pilot e-Village Programme,
‘Secondary Education Modernization Project II’ (SEMP II), and
funded by the Asian Development Bank.
The programme comprising many activities was, initially launched
in the Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Central, Wayaba and Southern provinces.

They are arivan to the  India. 
 In order to further enhance the quality of project outputs, the
managers of the five pilot projects have been given the opportunity
to attend a workshop held in Baramathi, India.

The workshop on ICT and Development that commenced on the23rd
March will conclude on the 26th.

It is expected that the experience gained from this exposure will
enable the managers acquire skills that can contribute to the extension
 and expansion of the services provided to the beneficiaries through the
respective projects. The knowledge gained will also help in ensuring the
future sustainability of the projects.

Sinharaja Forest

      The local name of the sinharaja forest is sinharaja Adaviya which means the forest
of the lion’s king. The legend tells us this vast forest was once a kingdom of the lions. This forest situated in the
south western section of Island.
                          Sinharaja is a tropical rain forest considerable size of Sri Lanka it is about 9000 hectares in extent.
                   Sinharaja forest contains many rivers and streams it is also contains    large humbler of plants us
for Ayurvedic medicine it is also home of the many rare birds, animals and insects found nowhere else of the
world in addition 60% trees of the forest are endemic to Sri Lanka of the forest.
             Sinharaja forest eagerly protected   by Government there for no one cut down trees or destroys the
forest this is truly a national treasure.
